How do you gain success in mathematics?
The answer is complicated and i am not really qualified to answer this question for sure. However, I compare math to sports. To become a good baseball player takes a lot of practice. Gladwell, the author of Outlier, states that it takes 10000 hours for one to gain significant expertise in anything. If you want to be successful in math, it takes lots practice and serious commitment. You really have to want to do it. And yes, I realize that talent does help, but talent is not sufficient, when you begin to study calculus.
